Not only is September Member Appreciation Month it is also our 30th Anniversary!
We are grateful for the support and trust that our members give us every day. It is our mission to assist members in achieving their financial goals in any stage of life. We pride ourselves on being the support our members can count on every step of the way. As we continue to grow we look forward to our continuation of the “people helping people” motto of credit unions.
A Little History of Us
We were chartered in 1993 by the National Credit Union Association. Our sponsor, the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux (Dakota) Community was instrumental in the initial support in establishing the institution. It’s crazy that 30 years ago we started at the SMSC Community Center lobby area to now having two spacious branches in Prior Lake and Shakopee. We opened not only to serve the SMSC community but to serve the Prior Lake area as as whole:
“The success of the credit union is not dependent on just the casino and tribe, but rather on the economic climate of the fastest-growing area in the Twin Cities. The credit union will grow with the development of the area,” our charter request stated.
In July of 2017 our charter was expanded to include Hennepin and Carver County in addition to Scott County.
